The Many Murderers Of Henry Havelock by Joe Johnson
Directed by Vicki Pankhurst
Auditions on 30th Oct 7.30 pm at St Albans Church hall
Millionaire socialite Henry Havalock gathers his jealous family, greedy friends and thieving servants on a dark and stormy night, before delivering the devastating news that he's cutting them out of his will in favour of his new fiancée, Flossie.
Henry's nearest and dearest, of course, doesn't take this news well and all immediately decide to murder him before his new will can come into effect - at the stroke of midnight!
But with so many murder plots occurring all at the same time, with the players desperate to keep their hasty plans secret and with huge revelations revealed throughout the evening - will anyone manage to kill Henry and get hold of the fortune they so desperately desire?
Lady Avaline Havalock A cantankerous, elderly lady, who is entrenched in the ways of the upper-class and presenting the right image, is unable to walk and is mother to Henry and Edmund.
Arnold Miggins A working-class, middle-aged butler, who is easily browbeaten and simply fooled, his light fingers often get him into trouble with his wife, Amelia.
Amelia Miggins A working-class, middle-aged maid, who is strong-willed and very canny, she forced to tolerate and atone for the multiple failings of her husband, Arnold.
Doctor Edmund Havalock A fiercely jealous and spiteful middle-aged GP, who doesn’t hide his deep hatred for his mother, he’s used to being smarter than everyone else in the room.
Flossie Aldridge A young, working-class woman, who is pretending to be upper-class to win the affection of Henry, she uses her beauty to her advantage and is a shrewd operator.
Kitty Havalock A young, simple-minded girl, who is easily destressed and lacks the understanding of serious matters, she is well-meaning but often infuriates her brother, Geoffrey.
Major Stanley Winn-Stanley A forthright, older man, who presents as boisterous and full of bravado, but only to mask his cowardly side, he is very used to giving orders from his time in army.
Reverend James Appleton A gentle, mild, older man, who is easily led and finds it difficult to challenge those more powerful than him, has a deep moral sense even if he occasionally forgets it.
Geoffrey Havalock A young, jack-the-lad, who is full of himself and confident in his intellectual abilities, motivated by greed and lust, a trait he shares in common with his father, Henry.
Henry Havalock An alcoholic, middle-aged play-boy, whose immense riches have left him caring only for sexual desires, has a caring side but fails to direct it towards his family.
